Punjab Kisan wing chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Kultar Singh Sandhwan, has blamed both the previous BJP-SAD alliance and Congress Party governments for the sorry state of affairs when it came to mitigate the suffering of the peasantry in the state due to lack of vision for the community, pushing it to suffer in stoic silence.
Sandhwan said that both the parties were now indulging in a fresh blame game slugfest accusing each other leading to undue delay in the procurement process due to acute shortage of gunny bags.
The AAP leader said that both were responsible for the Himalayan botch leading to delay the process of wheat procurement in the state, saying that they were simply trying to save their skin by indulging themselves into a slugfest of allegations and counter-allegations, thus further delaying the process wheat procurement.
Sandhwan said that while the captain Amarinder Singh government had been accusing the saffron union government led by Narendra Modi of step-motherly treatment by supplying to its Haryana counterpart sufficient gunny bags, just to defame the Punjab government and levering into translating it into votes. But, what he and his government had been doing ahead of the start of the procurement season thus adding to the farmers’ woes.
He flayed the Captain Amarinder Singh government for being cruel to the hassled farming fraternity, be it allowing complete loan waiver to stop the never-ending suicides committed by large numbers of farmers and farm hands, a promise had made to the people of the state.
Sandhwan said that the state government should, instead of shying away from its statutory obligation, immediately come to the rescue of the farmers, who had yet to come out of the huge losses they suffered at the hands of the weather Gods. The government should not try to pass off the buck to others parties just to save their own skin.
